On Saturday, October 12th at 2pm, Jamie LaBreck and Patrick Kelly will give a special presentation on “Arming Up for Battle” in the Middle Ages at Castlerock Museum in Alma, Wisconsin.

The program will offer a look at two different styles of medieval armor, as well as some of the weapons of the time period. Patrick will be the first to armor up with a suit of mail with plate elements representing the mid-13th century that was commonly worn in the Crusader Era. Jamie will follow with his coat of plates. It was the most common style of plate armor in the late 14th century when battlefield tactics still relied on heavily armored infantry and cavalry. It has advances over early armors, but hasn’t evolved into the full plate armor of later years. There will also be a partial suit of reproduction High Gothic armor on display as well.

Jamie LaBreck is a museum volunteer and reenactor who has taken part in a number of programs at the museum over the years. Patrick Kelly is a fellow reenactor with an interest in medieval warfare.

Admission is $6 for adults and $4 for students. Museum members receive a 50% discount. Castlerock Museum will be open at 1pm for visitors that would like to see the exhibits beforehand. Seating is limited. Reservations are not required but appreciated. Contact the museum at 608-685-4231 or [email protected] for more details.
