One Day Getaway

Does your family have a favorite one-day getaway?
Tell us about it for a chance at up to $100!
We're looking for day trips in our area for an upcoming feature and asking families to give us the itineraries to their best one-day getaways. The winning entries will be awarded up to $100 and publication in our digital edition, as well as consideration for our upcoming print publication.

Trips must be achievable in one day from the greater La Crosse area (even if you leave early and get home late). Some ideas and considerations to get your creativity flowing:
When do you leave home? How long does it take to get there? How long do you suggest planning to stay? Any must-do activities? Things you avoid? Where is your must-stop for lunch and/or supper?
Suggested format:
9 a.m. - Leave home.
10 a.m. - Arrive at ABC. Admission: $2/adult, free/12 & under. Go July 10 for free admission and a special event.
12 p.m. - Lunch at Restaurant of Choice. Great kids menu! We love the cheese curds.
1 p.m. - Head to XYZ. Admission: $10/adult, $5/child; consider the family price of $20. Don't miss the kids exhibit in the family hall!

Winning entries will feature an active day with a variety of stops, suggested time frames, accurate location names and addresses, costs or price ranges, ideal ages, places to eat / get ice cream or other treats, and secret tips and suggestions from veteran travelers of the route!
